Living and Learning Love

I have never had an exotic bird. So when I decided to rescue this little fugitive, I had to quickly do research on the how's and what's and what not's to do.
She came to me frustrated and very angry. She would come across the large cage from were ever she was to try to bite me and anyone else who happened to get close to her cage. She had been in the cage with no new toys, no fresh fruits or vegi's, no play time, for 12 months. She would attack you for replacing her food and water.
When her owner brought her and left - she was shaken and noticeably afraid which coupled her anger.
I placed her cage on my work desk. Then,I sat down and talked softly to her for a long time. She was hiding in a coconut shell hanging from the top of her cage - she had given up trying to bite me and went to hide. I found she was curious at all the soft talking and attention. So, I began to play peek-a-boo with her. Oh my! after about 3 hours of the gentle game(she became a willing participant very quickly) I found she was sweet hearted.
After several drastic changes in her lifestyle, now I have a very happy loving - excited to play with anyone who comes along - Lovebird. She now believes new people are new playmates. She rarely bites and when she does bite it is usually cause she is under a scarf playing one of her favorite games and doesn't realize you are using your hand to play. I always tell people to get one of her stuffed toys or her little mop and use t rather than their hands. She has Learned to mimic laughter and knows when it is for use and she laughs when she is having fun. Sometimes she laughs so much she runs out of breath and sounds so funny.
She shares a 7ft window play area and the whole studio apt with her friend Buedro - as she and Buedro are no longer caged - the cages are set up for them to enjoy - with toys food, water ..etc, but the doors are wired open. They love the play area and I change it with new toys and adventures every 3 weeks. To see fun pictures go to:

I have a hobby - keep the birds happy. For more on Buedro I will post a journal on his little happy life on his file
