I used to have a problem with my dog Wiggles counter surfing. It was a pain, but we managed it. However, he has recently discovered that he can just jump up on the counter with no problem at all (and very quietly). There are more hazards to this than you can imagine and he has already had his stomach pumped more than your average dog. He knows how to push open drawers and open cabinets, so we have to go buy baby locks for all of the doors. He is very smart and can easily be trained to do tricks, but he is very difficult to train to be good. He has figured out that the worst that will happen is being locked in the bathroom for an hour - he even goes straight into the bathroom by himself after he has been caught being bad. This will be a hard behavior to stop because no matter how clean we keep things, of course he will always find crumbs or a greasy burner to lick to reinforce the behavior. I never thought I would be thankful that my other dog is a cripple and can't get up there with him!
