Husky Grandmother needs suggestions

I am keeping my daughter's Siberian Husky for several weeks because he kept escaping from her fenced yard, which caused her to get a county citation to go to court. Citation is "dog at large." Probably will be a big fine for her, so I'm keeping her husky until this is resolved. She has another dog which hasn't caused any problems. Anyway, the Husky goes in a panic when I try to leave my house to do errands. He is somewhat destructive. He is 9 yrs. old. Any suggestions you Husky owners can give me regarding leaving him alone would be greatly appreciated. Also, my daughter has a wooden fence which he digs under. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue too would be wonderful.

Huskys are 'working dogs' and need activities during the day to work off their energy. Maybe you could walk him more, like during some of your errands during the day. -Or you could get your daughter or a friend to come up with 'real' work activites for him to do to get rid of some of that energy! -If you look up the Dog Whisperer Show, there are several episodes in which Ceasar encounters working dogs and he sets up once a day activities for them to do, which are fun for the owners and get rid of some of that energy!! -Huskies are notorious for tearing up houses when people are not home because of all their energy so until you work it off, the energy will most likely continue. -The dog is probably digging out of the fence because he is bored and has nothing to do, and no one (or another dog) to play with. She should sit out side and play with him when she is home so that he will not esacape, but also so that she can teach him that digging out is bad! -Is he fixed, because if not this is probably another reason why he is digging out becuase he wants to get to some female dogs.

Just read your comments. Thanks. Yes, he is fixed. I walk him 4 times a day. Don't really know what "activities" you were talking about except for walking him. My errands consist of going into stores in which he can't go and I do not want to leave him in the car, especially in GA heat.
