Horse Training
clinic. Boomer was up after lunch. We had asked David
to do some ground work with Boomer so we could pick
up his feet and he wouldn't kick the Farrier. David is also
a Farrier so we had asked him to trim Boomer's feet since
Judy couldn't trim him after he kicked her. That all took
about 20 minutes.
David was working about an hour to ninety minutes with
each horse. He wanted to make sure we got our money's
worth so the next thing we know he is riding Boomer
around the round pen!
When David first started he said he had noticed a few
things about Boomer. He is very aware and curious of his
surroundings. When David started working with Boomer
Boomer did strike out immediately with his front feet.
David worked Boomer with a plastic bag tied to the end of
a lunge whip. Boomer tried to stomp it to death. Since he
chose fight over flight, David said he has self confidence.
Next David worked Boomer's feet with a rope. He did not
resist. He wants to learn. David had high praise for our
little Indian horse. We are very proud parents!
Ray and I aren't ready to ride Boomer but we will be
tacking him up and doing more ground work with him
while we take riding lessons.
Tomorrow we take Brooks to David's clinic.
