Goody's coming around...

I recently commented how sweet Goody Two Shoes is getting. She nuzzles right up to me when I place her on my lap. She doesn't run away when I reach in her cage to pick her up. I'm sure it's all a matter of trust. I'm always very careful not to do anything that will cause my guinea pigs to second guess my affection for them. It takes time and consistency, but they eventually get the idea.

I mentioned to my husband that Goody is so much more social now. He said she still runs away from him. Right at that moment, he sort of glanced at her cage and she froze in her tracks. He took one step in her direction and she was in her pigloo.....

We laughed about it. She knows which hands offer the snacks around here.....

I read the other comments and I think I found a clue in one of the responses. If he can go into his big box (the fridge) , get a snack and ignore her then she will do the same thing

I think Goody is just playing mind-games with hubby, trying to psych him out.

You're probably right. She does have that look in her eyes when she's watching him....

Hehe! They definitely know who takes care of them! Bill kept wondering why all the animals loved me the most. I finally told him that if he wanted to some love from them he'd need to do part of the feeding and caretaking! That's why it's good for children to help with pets too!

I agree. The dog I had as a kid loved my mom. She was the one who fed her.

He doesn't pick them up a lot so they're not sure about him. He likes Rigatoni and picks him up, though.

Am glad to hear Goody is doing so well. Maybe she was not treated so well by a male thus is scared of your husband. That happens with dogs and cats.

I think I'm the only one she's bonded with. Puzzle is the one who is really afraid of people. Goody just knows where the snacks are coming from.

Glad to hear that Goody is settling in so well. Maybe your husband needs to start giving treats.

He should. It would be a lot quieter around here. Whenever he opens the fridge, they start squeaking and don't stop when they don't get snacks from him.

LOL She sure knows who hands out the snacks doesn't she? I'm glad that she is getting more affectionate with you! How's Truffles doing?

Poor Truffles really struggles to get around. I bring her out a lot and hand feed her. She grabs food right out of my hands, but doesn't want to eat out of her bowl. I've been mixing crushed pellets in her yogurt. She LOVES yogurt so I also mix her vitamin C in it. When she sees the syringe, she moves really fast towards it and grabs it. I take it one day at a time with her.
