girls just gotta have fun.....

This morning it was sunny, warm and beautiful. As the afternoon progressed, the sky clouded over and the rain began to fall. Perfect sleeping weather, piggy style.

My whole herd was sound asleep... so I thought. I was cleaning up in the kitchen and the "suggestion" of an afternoon morsel must have gotten the best of Pikachu and Curly Fry because they both perked up to get a better look at what I was doing.

Instead of bringing them a snack, I took Curly Fry out of her cage and set her by the doorwall. She usually makes a run for it, but this time she didn't. I quickly turned around and grabbed Pikachu from her cage to join her.

Pikachu can be swift with her fierceness: a quick bite to the guinea pig who rubs her the wrong way. I was prepared. I had a nice pile of hay waiting for them and the distraction worked. Every time Pikachu headed towards Curly Fry, I offered her a hay bit and she would take the bait..... well, almost every time.....

Curly made the move this time; not to confront Pikachu but to select a savory piece she spotted on the other side of the mound. Of course, that's all it took for Pikachu to respond... a quick nip.

Fortunately, Curly has thick fur and "thick skin" so she doesn't take that sort of thing personally. She just grabbed her hay and I grabbed Pikachu and we called it a day.

Nothing like a girl's day out.....

reminds me of my two! Autumn always hides in her pigloo at feeding time until Punkin is finished (because Punkin is a little pig, literally!) So I started putting a second bowl of food, and hay, right inside the pigloo with her so she doesnt have to wait! Funny how there is always a bossy one in the relationship :)

I find it interesting, that if one dies or you add another guinea pig to the group, the relationships change. They all work it out all over again.

I tend to like all journals that make use of the word "morsel". It's a happy word. Throw some cute Guinea Pigs in the equation and it makes for some good reading. Charming as ever, Kavy.

I think those "morsel-like" words tend to come up in my journals because I'm a grazer, just like my herd. No big meals; more like quick snacks and nibbles on the run. :-)

Curly is such a smart girl! I'm glad she had a girls day out! It sounds like Pikachu hasn't mellowed much. :)

I think Pikachu thinks she's human. She never runs away from me. She walks around her cage to be closer to whichever side I'm near. She never nips or bites me but snuggles and purrs. Now, substitute one of the guinea pigs for me and it's another story.

Glad to hear the girls got to get out for a nice bite to eat! Or in Pikachu's case a nice bite! Curly is such a good girl and I am glad that she doesn't get offended easily!

Curly really is a little sweetheart. Pikachu is a sweetie, too, not to guinea pigs, though; only to humans.

Curly has got it all together. I wish I could be that calm and collected when one of my coworkers get patooty!

You could take a hint from Pika, and bite them on the rump......

Curly knows how to handle a bully! Just pretend they're not there. Gets them every time...

Donna, you are so right. Curly is one smart cookie. She knows how to handle the youngsters, too. I guess practice makes perfect.

I'm sure Curly's thick hair really helps. I do not know if you saw it but a wote a journal a couple days ago about Oliver now wanting to sleep with the g oigs again and posted some photos. Not only him but when I got up this morning Mia was asleep in the hay loft. It must be warmer or something. There is some reason they like it again.

I'll go check it out. There must be something about hay. All of mine like sleeping and laying in the "litterbox" hay bins. Pikachu was afraid of it at first, but now she and all the others, climb right in. Rigatoni poops in one corner of his while he eats. I put shredded paper on that side and hay on the other. I have to empty it and clean it out a few times a day, but they all like it.

It didn't bother her a bit. I don't even think she realized Pikachu was was confronting her.

Nothing like a quick romp and a few pieces of hay. It's nice Curly doesn't let a little nip upset her.
