Roo Roo and his Favorite Chick
I've written about my pet Rooster Roo Roo before. He was going next door to visit his 'chicks'. There are eight of them and when I go over to check on him he struts around as if to say, look at my harem. Every night around dusk he comes back, after the hens have gone to bed, and eats some of the food we leave out for him, then flies up into his favorite tree to roost. He tells us it's bedtime by crowing and we just laugh telling him he's supposed to do that in the morning not at night. Every morning at 3am he again wakes me reminding me I have a few more hours of sleep. Then at 5am he crows, flies down and trots over to his chickee harem. Well tomorrow someone is coming to take all the chickens away. But not my Roo Roo. He's stay here with me. I'm debating about keeping a couple of his favorites but haven't yet made up my mind. I would have to build a coop, and an enclosure. With having to redo one of my horse corrals that is my number one priority. So my question is, can a Rooster have a broken heart? He has two ducks over here that all he did with them was fuss at them thru their fence. Too they are both males. Anyway I have a dilema and will soon have to make a decision. Before they came he stayed here in the yard, laying under the bushes, pecking around and keeping out of trouble. We'll see what happens.
