Another Day Off with the Creatures

Woke up w/ 3 cats surrounding me--one at my side, 2 nestled between my knees, grooming each other. This makes it so hard to get up in the morning!

The lizard cage got a good cleaning today, especially the glass front, which is covered in white sneeze debris. (Iguanas frequently snort salty drops to regulate their bodies. This is normal, and extremely messy!) They spent another hour or so clamoring at the intermittent sun (I love how they call them "sun breaks" in the rainy NW!), sure that I'm just being cruel for depriving them of a lovely day of basking outside. Yazzy is continuing his full body shed--whoohoo! Peeling the lizard can be one of life's little thrills if you're an ig owner. Yes, this sounds terribly gross to the uninitiated, but then again, I've always been one to fool w/ my own scabs, zits, etc.

Well, time to go give them their daily bath for humidity & potty purposes.

Hi Janie,Any updates to give us on Gnarla and Yaz?
I have to tell you that I've wanted an Iguana forever. Over the years, between raising children, dogs, cats,a bird, and multiple fish tanks,I don't think I could have taken on anyone else at this point.lol
Anyway,I saw Gnarla's photo and fell in love instantly. It's hard to believe that she was so abused at one time for she looks big and plump and so very happy now a days.
And Yaz.....What a handsome fellow he is,and to raise him from a hatchling is awesome. How proud you must feel when you look at these two.
Just wanted to tell you what a super job you've done, and that I'm hoping you'll write updates in your journal.I'd also love to see a better view of their cage. That too looks quite creative.

Hey, thanks! Iguanas are wonderful, but tons of work. I've had them for 15 yrs, and the beginning years weren't terribly smooth. (But not as much ig info was out there back then.) Yep, I love my babies! Gnarla just had MAJOR exploratory surgery yesterday--there were 2 enormous tumors inside her. Luckily, not attached to any major organs, but it was a long surgery & involved lots of blood. I was encouraged that she came home & immediately started chowing down on Yaz's food! She is hunched over & looks painful, but I'm hoping she survives all this. She's a tough little girl, and I love her so! Thanks for asking!

sneezes are a messy lot
