About a month ago a couple came to the shelter and wanted to adopt two kittens. After looking at some of the many kittens we had available the woman fell in love with one and wanted to adopt it. Her husband then looked at one of the other two kittens in that same cage and wanted to adopt that one. The woman asked why there were the three kittens in the cage. When I explained the three were littermates, she and her husband walked a few steps away and discussed something between themselves. After about 30 seconds they came back to me. The woman then said "We talked about the three kittens and decided we didn't want to adopt two and leave the third one by itself". My thought was that they were now going to choose two other kittens. But the woman said "We can't leave the one by itself so we want to adopt all three if that is permissable". I had to control myself to keep from shouting when I said "Yes, it's permissable to adopt all three".
Times like this make it all worthwhile!
