Welcome New Furry Friend, Murray!

Well, two weeks ago, we lost our beautiful beloved friend of 4 years, Buddy Kat, very suddenly to lymphoma. The pain and loss seemed unbearable and I didn't think it would be possible to ever meet a cat as special....
Two days ago, I adopted Murray, a 17 lb gray/white domestic short hair male from Washington Area Humane Society. He is not Buddy.... Buddy cannot be replaced. BUT. . . . I am so so so pleased to have welcomed Murray into his new forever home!
I had been visiting a different cat named Shiloh at the shelter frequently, and I was very interested in him. But then on Thursday, Murray arrived at the shelter, and he was in the cage below Shiloh's. When I saw that huge boy with big green eyes, I just had to meet him. He introduced himself with a big wet kiss on the face, followed me to the playpen, and proceded to make my lap into a couch..... and the rest is history!
I picked him up yesterday morning, so that I could be here with him to supervise closely his first day at home and meeting our dog, Sammi. He hissed at Sammi a bit at first, but now they are getting along royally. Sammi always brings him her toys and tries to get him to play with her!
It's amazing that Murray was tossed around between homes before finally arriving at the shelter.... He's nothing short of angelic! I am expecting some little naughty quirk to pop up, but so far, he uses the litter box like a perfect gentleman and he isn't naughty at all. He is so incredibly sweet. He comes when he's called, follows me around and rubs up against me, LOVES to play with his feather teaser toy, and is just such a lovebug. He slept snuggled up with me all through the night last night!
I am so grateful for Murray becoming apart of our family. My mum, Sammi Dog, and I are quite fond of him and he's growing on us quickly with his charms! I can't help but think that Buddy Kat must have "pulled some strings" to make sure another abandoned, unwanted cat got to be a part of his family and that the new cat would be a fabulous friend. Murray surely is just that.

So sorry about the loss of Buddy Kat. I know what it's like to loose a pet. I had lost 2 cats, Milo and Myron, within 4 months. Then, a year later I lost my dog, Brook. It is still hard here without them, but they will be forever in my heart. They are a part of my soul and could never have imagined my life without them.
Maybe that's why I have so many kitties.
Maybe that's why Mumble..aka Bandit...stole my heart on zootoo day. He is so sweet and loveable. He sleeps with me every nite and chases my feet under the covers before he goes to sleep. He has fit in so well with the other 15. Everyone loves him. Can't imagine how anyone could hurt or neglect a sweet boy like him.
His favorite playmate is Memphis, who was born in a cage and lived there for his first 6 months of life. I couldn't stand it anymore so I brought him home, with Maybelene, and he is such a joy. Got them from Nancy M. But I could go on and on.
Congratulations on your new baby, Murray. (I have a Murray, too...he's jewish!) I'm sure he will, if not already, become part of your soul, too.

We realized earlier this week that Murray must have previously been trained to "sit" and "beg" for treats! It's absolutely adorable. I want to post a video on Zootoo of his "tricks", but the last time I tried to upload a video, it didn't work.
I'll try again : )
