The other night, my husband and I were out on a walk. Suddenly, we heard something crashing through the leaves heading toward us. My husband's flight or fight response kicked in, and he chose flight. That left me standing in the dark on the sidewalk awaiting my fate. When I turned to see what was coming toward me (expecting a skunk or a raccoon) there was a kitten. We tried to point him back to the house it appeared he had come from and then continued on with our walk. We turned the corner and realized he was still following us. We thought, he'll go home lets run to the bikepath. The little guy kept right up with us. Now we were curious. The bikepath ran behind the houses we'd just walked infront of. Surely the kitten would go back to his home through the backyard. Wrong again! We continued with our walk for over a mile with this little guy chasing right after us. When we neared the road, we carried him across, and once he was safe, we put him back down and he followed us right up to our front door. We were hooked. We brought him in the house and locked him away in the spare bathroom. We noticed he had fleas and didn't want to risk infecting our other three cats or the entire house. The next day I took him to work with me (I work at a vet clinic). I had him tested for feline leukemia and FIV and with a clean check, he was vaccinated, flea medicated, and wormed. Once he's old enough, he'll be neutered. He has fit into our home like he's always belonged, and the other cats are adjusting well to his energy. We decided on the name Chase, since he chased his way to his new home and right into our hearts!

Isn't it special how a kitten can tell the right people to follow and go home with. You should feel proud because you have been chosen and kittens are very good judges of the right people. I'm not at all sure that I'm a good choice for a kitten, but over the past several years a kitten has found my family and my home three different times. And each of those three kittens were wonderful pets, companions and friends.
