Open House Update....

I'm really happy to say that there was a near record number of adoptions at the 10th Annual Critter Corral Guinea Pig Rescue Open House on Sunday. 21 guinea pigs found homes!!!! The all time record for adoptions at a single event was 22. Needless to say, everyone associated with the rescue is very happy, along with 21 guinea pigs and their new owners.... :-)

I am glad to hear this. I saw an amazing Pig when I was dropping off my fosters. I didn't think their fur could get that long. I was tempted.

Probably a Peruvian, alpaca, shelty or texel. Curly has long fur. I trim hers since she tends to mop things up with it. The long haireds require a lot of grooming.

It looked like the hair was 3 to 4 inches long. The poor little thing would have to be groomed/trimmed to keep clean. I am not up to that and the Girls. If I get a piggy it will have to be one of the stuffed ones I saw in the Petique at the shelter

Excellent- a day like that makes up for the other days when it seems like nothing is happening, doesn't it?

It sure does. We also have a summer pignic which is really fun and closer to my house. I also help at Saturday adoptions but now that I'll be working every Saturday, I won't be able to do that anymore unless they switch to Sundays or later in the day.

Critter Corral has a very good reputation. Most of the shelters in the area will contact us when they have guinea pigs that haven't been adopted.

The woman who runs the rescue was on vacation the week before the open house. Two of us handled the emails while she was gone and encouraged people to come to the open house to select a guinea pig from the large numbers they normally bring. The weather cooperated, too, so it was great.

I only made the flyer. I didn't attend. I had to get up early for the first day of my new job on Monday. The rescue is about 1.5 hours from my house. I was in bed really early.

I'm anxious to see which were adopted. There was a beautiful teddy on the list that came in with Goody. I've always had the urge to adopt her, but the number I have now works well for me.

Everyone is fine. Pikachu is starting to show her age. She's still as active as ever, but is starting to look older. I'm guessing she must be over 5 years of age now. We've had her going on 4 years and she was an adult when we got her. Curly is the surprising one. We got her as a senior. I'm guessing she must be around 7 years old now. The rest are fine. Rigatoni is a full sized boar now.... one big boy!!!! Puzzle is probably getting up in years, too. I have no idea of her age, but she looks older. Goody is an adult now and is very chubby. She and Puzzle sometimes even share a pigloo which is remarkable since Puzzle was so dominant before.
