New Foster Kitties...a momma and her 3 kittens

It's been a couple of weeks now since Ms. Rilee and her 3 babies joined us. The shelter said the babies were 4 weeks old when I brought them home, but truly, they were only about 2 weeks old at that time! They are about 5 weeks old now and just starting to use the litter box and experiment with trying food. Mamma Rilee is a trip and a half. I think she's part Bengal and Siamese...the most vocal cat ever! She is also the most protective momma cat I've ever fostered! I always name my foster litters with some sort of theme. Since momma's name started with an "R" I decided on all "R" names. The babies are now Ramsey, Rory, and Raven. Each name has it's own little meaning to me :) This family of kitties have been a total joy, even though momma Rilee is a bit crazy and the babies like to climb my pants like MT. Everest. :)

Quite the hikers, huh? You'll have to post a photo with this journal.

Can you share the meaning behind the names?

Oh sure! Since Rilee is an Irish name, I wanted them all to have Irish names that started with "R." But I couldn't think of any that I liked enough. Rory is the only one who ended up with an Irish/R name. Rory is a male orange tabby. Rory means "red head." So it seemed fitting! Raven is black, so Raven just fit her since Ravens are black. Ramsey's name originally was Rachel. I just liked the name Rachel and I was calling the kitten "Rachel Ray." One day little Rachel rolled over on "her" back and I realized Rachel was a BOY! Rachel can can be a boy name as well, but I ended up changing the name to Ramsey, after Chef Gordon Ramsey. I figured I'd go from one chef name to another. My naming can sometimes get corny. But after so many litters of fosters, I find it easier to have some sort of theme. That's the story of where the "R" fosters got their names!
