My Cats

When my husband and I decided we wanted to adopt two kittens (one for him and one for me) there was no doubt that we would adopt from a humane society. We kept checking our local humane society, but unbelievably they didn't have any! We ended up getting in contact with another humane society a couple hours from our home that had two brothers that would be ready for adoption in a week (they were only 4 1/2 weeks at the time and were being bottle fed). The day before we went to visit and decide to adopt them the lady we were working with called me to tell me that they had a new kitten dropped off the night before and she thought I'd love it. He was fluffy and gray. I asked her not to even show it to us. We wanted to adopt the brothers. When we arrived that day we had to wait a few minutes and then were taken to a playroom to meet the kittens. My mom and brother had also made the trip with my husband and I. The moment we entered the room a gray fluffy kitten ran right up to me. I scooped him up into my arms. He was purring and rubbing all over me. The next moment I looked down and saw two short-haired kittens, one gray and white and the other black and white. I muttered, "This isn't one of the brothers is it?" The lady said, "No, that's the one that I told you about that I thought you'd like." To make a long story short I was torn as to which two to get. The fluffy gray one was a must, but I didn't want to separate the brothers. My husband said getting all 3 was out of the question. I asked my mom what she would do and she said she would get all 3! In the end that's what we did! I still can't believe my husband agreed to it. Their new names became Chase (the fluffy gray one who chased the "brothers" around), Onyx (the black and white brother) and Neko (the gray and white brother). You may see on my profile that I have 4 cats. Well.....a few weeks after we got the kittens someone came to my back door with a sick kitten wondering if one of ours had gotten out. I immediately knew it wasn't ours, but I saw that she had a pretty bad cold in her eye. We had medicine in our refrigerator that could cure it. She was the same size as our "boys" and looked just like a maine coone kitten. My husband did not want me to bring her in, but they said they were going to throw her back out into the alley where they found her. I promised my husband we would find her a new home while I treated her eye. We kept her separate from our boys in case she had feline leukemia (our boys had already been tested). Long story short, we couldn't find a home with her, my pet rabbit died and my husband felt so sorry for me because I was so upset that he said I could keep the kitten (which I had already secretly named "Mollie" because she had an M on her forhead). Today Mollie is our most beautiful cat. She is mostly maine coon (if not all). She is very large for a female cat, has the tufted ears and feet. My mom has a male maine coon and she resembles him very much. So that's the story of how we ended up with our FOUR cats. They are all indoor and still loved very much (especially by our 5 year old and 2 year old twins!). The "kittens" will all turn 6 years old this month!
