Munchie Lives

Today I met a couple who came to our shelter to see what a dog named Munchie was so special that she was still in our shelter after 7 months. Apparently this woman had been watching our website seeing pets come and go but seeing one consistent theme.

Munchie was there day after day, week after week and month after month. So today she decided to come see what was so special about this dog. The shepherd mix's picture didn't give any explanation about why she was still there. Somewhat non-descript she had remained on our site and in our shelter since November.

When the couple came to see her they noticed that Munchie did not come running to the door, nor was she barking and jumping around for attention. I had to explain that she had been with us for so long and had gone unnoticed by so many strangers, that Munchie had quit responding to strangers and only became really excited when the staff or volunteers who she knew would give her attention, came by. Still they didn't see what we saw but knew there must be something special. So after only a few brief minutes outside in the playyard, they saw what we had seen all along. A sweet, loving, kind, gentle girl with so much heart to give if only someone would give her a chance.

Today she got that chance and tonight she is sleeping for the first time in 7 months in her new home...far from the shelter, far from the fate that could have been the end of hope for Munchie, but not far from our hearts. She held a special place for many months and will remain there. But only in our hearts...not in our care. Not in our shelter. How wonderful to know that our faith and her wonderful temperment finally paid off. Someone else saw what we saw and made her their's for it. YEAH MUNCHIE!

Alright ,glad to hear Munchie is finally in a loving ,caring home. She was really a special pup......yipppy

How great for Munchie!! Hope this happens for more of the animals waiting for their forever home. Hope you have a great time in Orlando, can't wait to read your journal after the trip.

It is those kind of adoptions that, when you are at home and you think about why you do what you do each day, Munchie will come to mind. Then you will remember that every creature deserves a chance.

How exciting! I hope many more people will come to the shelter and find their "Munchie" as well.
