Joy of having a dog
Tucker was found back in April of 2006 with the help of Petfinder.com and the Dessin Animal Shelter. But the story really began when we decided to get a dog. It took us a good month going in between local humane societies (because we were going to adopt, not buy a dog). We would see dogs that we thought that would be compatible, but there was no connection. But the one day, Dave my fiancee found this cute border collie mix at the Dessin Animal Shelter named Tucker and also there was a litter of lab puppies. So we decided to take a look at them there. Once we got there, all the dogs were carrying on barking and the only dog that wasn't making a sound and sitting so nice was Tucker. We took a look at him and decided to see those other puppies we saw online. But I had noticed everywhere we went, Tucker did not take his eyes off of us. I thought that was odd - but continued to look at the other dogs. We decided to look at Tucker again and take him outside to see how his temperament was. I had my hand on the kennel when we were looking at him again, and Tucker decided to put his left paw on my right hand. I was done - that sold me right there. But we did take him outside and he walked like an angel! He kept looking back at us while we were walking. When we went back inside to do the paperwork for him, he stood up onto the counter to watch us sign up to get him ( I thought that was cute - it was like he was making sure we were getting him). But it broke my heart when we left, he was looking at us like we were deserting him. All in all we were accepted to get him and got him 3 days later. He has been in our happy home ever since!
