Ginger's First day in her new home!

My daughter has been wanting a dog for quite some time now..We just moved from an apartment where there were no pets allowed into our own home a few months ago, and My daughters birthday is right around the corner, so we figured it would be a good time to start looking for a new pet.
We started our journey to the local pet rescue. They had only 3 dogs there, one was excessively loud, the otherwas very excited & jumpy, and the other was what I wouldsay "a very agressive" dog. none of which, stood out and said take me home.
We then drove to the Humane Society, and was walking through a few nice animals, but again.. nothing really stood out.. until we were on our way out to the vehicle and heard a faint bark.. looked over to the left and saw 2 dogs in a fenced in area, My daughter and I walked over the fence and was trying to get a better look at the 2 dogs.
As we approached the area, both dogs came walking over, tails wagging. We took an instant liking to both of them. My daughter asked if we could adopt them both!! We Proceeded to ask about the beautiful animals, and discovered that they were Mother & Daughter!! Bad news was that the mother had to stay at the shelter because they thought she maybe pregnant again!! And needed to tell us that the other dog was not house broken yet and was also a Nervous Pee-er, whenever she is nervous she, she looses control and pees.
We filled out the adoption papers and the wait was on...
We were able to spend a little time getting to know Ginger,(dog's name) for a walk on a leash. The entire time I had Ginger on a leash she was looking back at my daughter,(who was a few steps behind) and checking on her. Since I thought she was very good walkingont he leash, I let my daughter have a turn at it, after all this would be her early birthday present. She was surprised at how well Ginger was walking on the leash, not powerful or agressive at all, not too fast nor too slow, just right!!!
Needless to say both my daughter and myself fell in love with Ginger!!!
In the meantime...the shelter called 3 different references(to see how I treat my pets and if I would be a good pet owner), the Police Department(to see if i had ever been accused of Animal Cruelty, neglect or abuse), the Animal Control Officer (to see if I had ever been called on for abuse, or dropping off animals), The Town Office (I had previously owned and dog years ago and they wanted to know if i had my pet registered), and the Vet Hospital (to see if I was responsible and had my previous pet neutered, maintained good health and regular vacciantions/checkups)
Another couple had shown interest in Ginger. While we still had Ginger on the leash, the other couple starts patting her and talking about taking her home, and how their other pets will love her, and blah blah blah.. I was getting angry.. I looked at my daughter and she was beginning to get tears in her eyes at the though of Ginger going home with someone other than herself.. The Handler came from around the corner and the other couple asks for an application to adopt this dog, the lady hands them an application and says, these ladies (my daughter and myself) have an application already in effect, so if they are approved, and still want Ginger then they have first dibs....
After a few hours I got the phone call and was approved for adopting!!!
We raced to the checkout (anticipating a "Yes" for adoption, we were shopping at walmart for the necessities such as.. shampoo, brushes, food, dishes, bed, collar, leash, treats, toys, bones, and more toys)and drove to pick up our new best friend!!
We are now the proud parents of a Beautiful 5-6 month old, female, St. Bernard/Husky Mix dog named Ginger!!!
She is very well mannered for her age. She has one light brown colored eye and the other eye is light blue on bottom(3/4)and light brown on top(1/4).
She loved the ride home and sat up between the two front seats, right next to my daughter, who is grinning from ear to ear!!!
THats all for now, i will tell you more about Gingers home coming and reactions next time i write.. until then have a great day/night, and thanks for reading!
