Entering the home stretch

Four days and counting, HSOV was back down to 14th yesterday, and is back up to 12th again today! I won't start celebrating early, but we're sitting pretty good going into the home stretch.

On my way up to the shelter today for some volunteer time, I saw a sign at the WalMart/Lowe's shopping plaza for a new pet store. Wouldn't it be sweet to have an Adopt-A-Thon right in front of that store and urge people to adopt instead of supporting puppy mills?

I walked the sweetest dog at the shelter today, he is a Husky/German Shepherd mix, came from an abusive home, and was very gentle and obedient. He wants attention so bad he keeps poking his head through the kennel door and knocking over his food bowl. I wish I could have taken him home with me. He is apparently too new to be listed onPetFinder.com, but I am actively checking with everyone I know to see if they will take that precious dog.

I get to help out with my first Adopt-A-Thon in May, I'm really looking forward to it. By then maybe we'll know how we fared in the ZooToo shelter makeover competition!

I agree that it's important to try to urge people to adopt from local shelters rather than support puppy mills. Good for you for volunteering and signing up to do one in May. :)
