An update on Cooper!
Hello everyone. I am posting once again to update this great community on Cooper. He was in the NO KILL shelter for 2 days & was not eating. I couldn't bear to think of him all alone & scared. So, on the third day when they told me he still had not eaten, I rented a car, drove to the shelter & picked him up. He was so happy to see me. He slept in the car all the way home, I'm sure because he was finally relieved of the stress from the kennel environment. He's fine right now, yet still very difficult to handle on the leash. A wonderful woman sent me a message, suggesting I get a doggy treadmill. I have never heard of such a thing. She said I could get Cooper running on the treadmill & wear him out, so he's less hyper & more manageable outside. I am looking into treadmills! So, if anyone has any advice as to where to go for the best model or functions I should be looking for in a treadmill: please contact me!
I am sorry, but I must address this one issue. I was recommended to this community because I was in need. And I am absolutely shocked at how many nasty messages I received because I took my dog to a shelter. I came here looking for a home for my dog, looking for advice. I received 2 messages from 2 amazing woman with great advice & that was so comforting. But I received double that in negative messages, telling me I am horrible for taking my dog to a kill shelter & what was I thinking putting an adult pit out there & no one is going to adopt that dog. I was horrified by these responses. And funny enough, these rotten people offered no advice as to what to do to fix the situation. They only offered cruel comments & caused more stress/guilt for me. To those people: You should be ashamed of yourselves & I hope you never have to deal with low class ignorant people like yourselves when it's your turn to be in need. And believe me, one way or another, there will be a day when you are in need of another humans advice, comfort or encouragement!
As for Cooper: I am still looking for the perfect home for him. On the ride back to the city, I pulled over on a old country road & we ran around a field for a few minutes. He was so happy & I wish I could give that to him everyday! I will get a treadmill for now, but if there are any field-owning-pet-loving individuals out there: CALL ME! 917 514 2806

Please, go get your dog out of the shelter. Right now that dog is suffering terribly. Find a good home for it if you don't want it. There is no excuse for your behavior.
An adult pit in a kill shelter? Who are you kidding?

I looked the shelter up online where the dog was taken (The Humane Society of Port Jervis NY). On their web site they acknowledge being a kill shelter. Click below to see for yourself. http://www.pjhumane.org
Thank you for doing the right thing and picking up your dog from the shelter. Why don't you get a trainer, take some classes, hang out with the "good" people you met and learn how to be a good dog parent.

As for Cooper: We are currently looking for a better home for him, someone with plenty of land & plenty of love for Cooper. Thanks to all who have taken the time to read his posts.

The plight of the pit bull is a sad one. It is nice that you attempted to give 2 of them a home. I hope Cooper has since found a new home.
