ADOPTIONS! - HOLLY!!!!! and ROONEY - READ THIS LHS AFFILIATES/VOLUNTEERS!

Tonight was a great night at the shelter. I was extremely busy with the public. A man came back who fell in love with a new pit that we got named Rooney. I didn't know much about Rooney on Tuesday when I took him out. This guy fell in love with him immediately. Rooney was kind of dirty which I later learned came from his love for rolling around outside and getting belly rubs! He came back tonight after his application was reviewed to adopt him! After the adoption was settled, I gave him a bath and cleaned up after his "happy tail" which seems to never end :)

Rooney was amazing in the bath. After, he let me dry him and laid on the towel so I could rub his belly and dry it. He went back into his cage and of course peed a third time for the night on his towel, so I rebedded him and hoped that he didn't get any on his clean coat.

Holly was another story. A nice couple from Hoboken came by to check out a female pit bull. Allison immediately thought HOLLY! They mentioned they were interested in a dog named Holly! It must be the full moon! They took her out, and when they came back, I asked them if they saw how well she responded to commands. They didn't even ask, so we got down to some commands. Holly knew "sit" "lay down" "paw" "other paw" and "roll over." They were sold!

A very happy ending for the night :)

I'm high on life tonight!!!!

Terrific news! I never got to take Rooney out yet, but he has the most lovable face, and I heard about his love of belly rubs- I was looking forward to meeting him. But even better- he's already got a home! Sooo happy for him. As for Holly, my boyfriend and I took her out for a hike Friday morning, and had NO IDEA she got adopted the night before! She was so cute checking out the water in the brooks and trying to figure out how to jump over fallen trees...so curious...and after 3 solid hours of hiking, a lot of which was uphill, the girl never tires! We were happy to get her out into the great outdoors for the majority of the day, and took a lot of new pictures of her that we thought might generate more interest in her on petfinder. So we were happy/sad to bring her back to LHS. But when we came back, Brian said "Did Allison tell you Holly got adopted last night?" I could NOT be happier, I love, love, LOVE Holly girl! And now it seems like Sandy and I will be prowling the streets of Hoboken to get a glimpse of her strutting around with her new family! On her adopter's application, the box for running/jogging partner was checked off. YOU GO, HOLLY! ;o)
