Went back to the vet for follow-up x-ray. Happily, the spot on the first one didn't recur, so we're sorta ruling out cancer. Still don't know why he doesn't want to eat normally. But the hand feeding paid off in a minor weight gain. And the pills are stimulating his appetite so he's eating a little on his own. read more

Unfortunately it's just because I've been hand feeding him for three weeks. But at least the weight loss has been reversed. Going back Monday for a follow-up x-ray to see if what they saw is still there. read more

Dixie's at least somewhat cooperative with the syringe feeding. Sooo much easier than the spoon; and less messy, too. But in the past he would have been too strong for me to hold with one arm if he wanted to get away. Getting about 2/3 of a can into him daily, but still don't know what the future holds if he doesn't start eating on his own. read more

Dixie's blood tests came back perfectly normal, so the vet has no idea why he's no longer eating. Last resort is an x-ray, but they can't do that til next week. Am syringe feeding him and may pick up a bag of fluids. Guess have to accept that he'll either start eating or not. read more
