Everyone is wondering

Ever since the April 10 visit from Zootoo I keep getting asked everywhere I go "did you win"? or "what happened" - So many people have become so excited about the possibility of Danbury Animal Welfare Society winning a makeover. When I tell them that we have to wait until the middle of May to hear if we are in the top 3 and then ultimately the winner they look disappointed. - But I tell them that the good news will be worth the wait. They were easy to talk to and we really had a great day showing them what we are all about, our community connection and the shelter we are all so proud of. Most of the volunteers have full time jobs in the "real world" yet so many too the day off to be part of this amazing experience. Good luck to th… read more

Zootoo finals

Last week when I was able to speak with Richard Thompson on the telephone to discuss his intended visit at our shelter I truly felt as if I was dreaming. While our community really came together and began "zootooing" at every available moment, it was evident that we had gotten into the game late (late Feb) versus other shelters who had been clicking since October we were doing really well. As I checked our numbers each night, I kept saying "oh, my God, we might just do this".… read more
