Young cat with too much energy!

My cat Gracie is almost 20 months old. In the past month, she has decided 5:30am is a wonderful time to get Mommy up. I have added extra play time and put her pieces of her food in different places, so she has to look for her yummies. Around 12:50am Sunday morning, she started crying. I have talked to a behavorist and she made some suggestions, all of which I all ready do. Does anyone have any ideas? I need some input. read more

Helping homeless animals

I have read most of the entries after the 3 finalists were announced. The Erie County SPCA was not in the top 3, but we have gained greater exposure in our community and even recognition from our county legislature! The most importantly, we have given voices to homeless animals. I am grateful for the money the shelter received and I am happy for the 3 finalists. Erie County SPCA is the place to find your forever…

The SPCA has been such a fun place to volunteer. I have learned so much about animals and how to care for them. I am in the Petique, the shelter's store, and I have learned so much about retail. The shelter could do so much more to help more animals if we were to win the makeover prize. It would be wonderful to have more rooms where prospective owners could interact with cats or dogs. Hurray for the Erie County SPCA!!!

Gracie here again to tell you about the Cat enrichment program. If my mom hadn't adopted me, one of the volunteers would have spent extra time with me so I would have a better chance of being adopted. If the shelter was bigger, they could have rooms dedicated to socializing scaredy cats like me. Right now, the only room they have is the women's locker room! Gracie here again to tell you how much my mommy loves the SPCA! The number one reason is because she found me there! I am one lucky girl. Mom can't help herself but buy me all kinds of toys and supplies I need to be happy and healthy. This shelter loves its animals, but we are rapidly outgrowing our building!
