Shelter statistics from across the nation...

I'm trying to gather information from shelters in Illinois, on their intake, adoption, and euthanasia rates for dogs and cats. Contradiction in euthanasia...

There are so many contradictions in the world that I just don't understand. Why is it illegal to kill a suffering human being and merciful to kill a suffering pet? Is suffering supposed to be good for people and bad for animals? I know some people think their religion says that people are supposed to suffer, and usually those same religions say that pets don't go to "heaven". I helped my friend cross the Bridge yesterday. He was 14 and a half. We got him about 2 months before my husband and I got married. The first night home, I insisted that Jin sleep in a box in a separate room from us--- but his howling, for nearly an hour, finally won us over and he slept in our room. Plea to electric fence owners

This heartbreaking letter came from a woman who trains at my obedience club. She gave me permission to post it: If you have an electric fence please, please don't put all your faith in it. While coming home tonight down a busy road in a very expensive suburb I found 2 German Shepherds, one sitting next to the dead body of his friend. I previously wrote about the empty Schweitzer house and kennels, and how Pets Without Parents had proposed renovating the buildings to use as a dog shelter.
