It looks like Lou is planning to head for Denver in two weeks, with a greater percentage of our Shelter dogs than last time. There will be plenty of pups--the Arkhola five, Hope's three I suppose, the three new dogs where Ray used to be, and then the big deliberations on who of the big dogs stand the best chance of getting adopted. read more

We now have a blind dog at the Shelter. He is very sweet, reddish brown coat, and gets around by smell and hearing, although he looks drunk as he tries to figure out what is around him. Very sad. He is in Wally's pen, and Wally is up in Herrin. read more

We--me, Lou, and Roberta--administered the bordetella to ALL the dogs this afternoon. A short three hours. JoJo and Rita were really squirelly in the face of getting a liquid up their nostrils, so we put them in the runs for a while. They ran like crazy. If there is one person who has improved the landscape and the infrastructure at the Shelter it is Joe H. Cold all over. Dogs must be pretty tough. I have seen them curled up on lawns outside their doghouses and acting just as if all is okay in the teen weather we have been having. Just in case, though, I picked up some more straw to put in the Shelter outside dogs' doghouses for some added insulation. read more
