CCSPCA in Orlando!

Hi, all CCSPCA supporters. I'm just back from Orlando, where the Cecil County SPCA was one of the 20 shelters honored for being a finalist in the shelter makeover contest. It was such a thrilling event, even though we did not make it to the final 3 contestants that move on to the next round of the competition. Richard Thompson and the entire ZOOTOO team were so enthusiastic and supportive of all the 20 shelters. The final 3 shelters were announced on the stage at the natio… read more

Timothy Loves Mr. Top Cat & Zootoo!

We can't believe it, but we just got a call from Mr. Top Cat's office that the Cecil County SPCA has been moved up to Number 20 in the makeover contest and Zootoo's team is coming to visit this Thursday, May 1! We still are not sure of the time and of course we have so little time to prepare that we won't be able to do a big event like the other shelters who had more advance notice did. Timothy the Blind Dog Teaches Mom a Lesson

Timothy, my blind boy, is usually a lot smarter than his Mom. He never lets his disabilities or the bad things that life may put in his path-- like FURNITURE AND WALLS-- get him down. Mom has now gotten over her depression about our shelter finishing just outside the top 20. We were at 23, but then two shelters ahea… read more

Timothy is sad today

My blind boy, Timothy, is sad today. If he had two eyes, he might even be crying. He can tell that his Mom is so upset because, overnight, zootoo deducted 50,000 points from "his" shelter-- the place that save his life over 7 years ago. Timothy loves to go for rides in the car and when I say, "we're going to the shelter," he wags his tail and is happy. How many dogs would actually LOVE to be taken to an animal shelter? That depends on the shelter! … read more

Timothy's Story

One of the reasons I am so passionate about supporting the Cecil County SPCA is Timothy, my blind black Lab that I adopted from this shelter when he was a puppy. He was born about 90 percent blind, with retinal displasia and thick cataracts and the handicapped legs that go with dwarfism genetic defects in Labs. Luckily, this is a pretty rare defect if breeders check the parents with a CFA test for retina eyefolds. Some backyard breeder didn't know these things and sold Timothy. Wh… read more
