In addition to surrenders increasing from the economy, there is always the post Christmas additions. These are the impulse pets that have been purchased for the holidays and wind up in the shelter because there was no real commitment to a pet. We are starting to see this now. read more

Every morning that I wake up I have to remain still or get attacked by 2 dogs and 2 cats that have been waiting for me to move just one muscle. So when I am still in bed I keep the covers over my eyes so they can't see me. When I am ready to get up, I jump out of bed quickly so as not to have this free for all on the bed. The dog's behavior got them in trouble today. Now they have to lay by my side and not move. They have been barking at every moving object recently and now its time to stop the yelling and get some control back. Its just that as I am typing they keep staring at me for freedom..no no read more

Thankfully Henry gets a lot of attention from the volunteers on weekends. Its hard to leave him on Fridays but I am fairly certain my home would not be the best match - though you never know.
