My Beagle, Buddy, had to be euthanized yesterday. He had a seizure, and the vet said he had pancreatic cancer; euthanizing him was the best option. How tragically sad. I see today that the Central Missouri Humane Society (CMHS) is ahead in the vote count. Have any of you rescues and shelters in areas with large military populations thought of creating a foster program specifically geared toward placing foster dogs and cats in the homes of soldiers stationed in your area? I learned through the CSC listserve of a transport of a very pregnant stray English Pointer someone had found but couldn't keep who was going from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to St. Louis, Missouri, to OnPoint dog rescue (400 miles).
