Button rolling at my feet du…

Posted in Behavior & Training

Button is our black short-haired cat who comes along with me and the dogs every morning on our walks. He has a peculiar habit of running up in front of me and then laying down and rolling. I usually stop and pet him, then we continue on our way. There have been times, however, when I wasn't watching for him, and almost stepped on him. Now, I'm … read more

Busy breaking up cat fights

Button, Maggie, and Cali - F…

Posted in Behavior & Training

Maggie is a rat terrier/jack russel terrier mix (we think). She'll be two years old in May, and really enjoys breaking up cat fights. If any of the dominant cats have a "discussion", Maggie runs with all her might to get to them and break them up. She doesn't try to hurt either of them. Its actually fun to watch her. read more

Sugar enjoying cool sand on …

Posted in Behavior & Training

On our morning walks, we usually walk down to the ravine. Since it has no water in it, the dogs usually enjoy walking in the sand. Sugar discovered she could lay down and stretch out and enjoy the cool sand on her tummy. read more

Coming in season

Cody and Abigail 8 May 08

Posted in Behavior & Training

We have two geldings and three mares in our little herd. Whenever the two younger mares come into season, they will buddy up with a gelding. But, I've noticed that the older mare doesn't seem to buddy up with anyone. I wonder if age has anything to do with it, or is it that I have simply not been very observant. read more
