Although the cats and dogs and I walk the ravine every day, they never seem to get tired of it. The cats explore while the dogs sniff out the smells of deer, racoons, and whatever else might have walked through the area. Those kids! read more

While on our morning walk around our property and through the ravine, two of our dogs, Shorty and Maggie, alerted on a mysterious smell. I couldn't see anything except a large fallen tree limb, so I went over to see what they were investigating. It was a dead racoon. Poor thing! read more

Maggie is a rat terrier/jack russel terrier mix (we think). She'll be two years old in May, and really enjoys breaking up cat fights. If any of the dominant cats have a "discussion", Maggie runs with all her might to get to them and break them up. She doesn't try to hurt either of them. Its actually fun to watch her. read more

I was a bit concerned the first time the stepdaughter came for a visit with her dog, Samson. My worries were in vain, however. We introduced our 4 dogs to Samson by taking all of them on a walk together. No one was ugly to anyone else. Now, when they visit, Samson is like one of the family. read more
