As I watched the horses graze on a small patch of grass that I have fought so hard to keep alive, I thought about how I felt. Although the drought has killed most of the graze for the horses, watching them graze still makes me feel so very blessed to have them. read more

Being in south Texas, we have been in a drought for many months. All of our pasture grass has either died from the drought, or has been eaten so short, it looks nonexistant. I've noticed that our horses enjoy eating the rounds bales of hay from the inside first. I don't know if the hay has a little more moisture on the inside, or what, but there is definitely something that attracts the horses to eat the middle first.
