Life with Yaz

Well, it's been 25 days now since Gnarla's passing. It took me awhile, but I can now look at pics of her and smile, knowing we had a good time together for 4 years and that she would not have had that lifespan in the house where she was found. She had a spacious cage, an ig boyfriend/buddy/protector in Yaz, homegrown greens in the summertime, windows to look out of, cat trees to climb...I miss her so much, but now she is somewhere, no doubt running & climbing to her heart's content, boasti… read more

Rest in peace, Gnarlita

Everyone, Thank you so much for your good wishes. This seems like a horrid deja vu, it instantly puts me in mind of my iguana Ziebe's passing 6 yrs ago. Anyhow, my best little iggie girl in the world, Gnarla Jean Tuvolt, passed away about an hour ago. I made her a big yummy breakfast of collards, zucchini, banana, & bits of oranges, and reluctantly bit her adieu. Luckily, my roommate works nearby, and comes home for lunch. I called him during my break an… read more

Gnarla's Surgery

For those who don't know, my beautiful little Gnarla iguana had exploratory surgery on April 30. For the last couple weeks, I'd noticed that she was quite large (no, she's not gravid, she was spayed in 2005), w/ the sides of her abdomen feeling "squishy." Since I work daily with cats, I'd liken the feeling to that of a cat w/ FIP. Also, there were two large, chicken egg-sized hard objects floating in there. I took her to my herp doc 2 wks ago, and neither a belly ta… read more
