The Education Of Little Tippy

Tippy was clearly the dominant male of the litter. He is very bossy, and when Amy reprimands him for biting too hard with his puppy needle teeth, he just bites back. It's difficult for Amy to make the message clear, because she is clearly holding back and trying not to hurt him, and he has such thick fur that anything short of a very hard bite just makes him yelp a little and lunge back at her. He splashes the water from his self-watering bowl just to watch it run down into the nearby floor drain in the basement floor. Anytime water runs in the house he is there to watch it - sink, toilet, pitcher, coffeepot, you name it. When he… read more

Don't lose sight of the animals!

It seems like in the frenzy of the shelter makeover contest, there are many silent voices patiently waiting to be heard. The shelter visits are nice, the people who spent all the time on ZooToo trying to get their shelter in the final 20 are awesome, the tour videos are interesting because they display a range of facilities from inadequate to almost extravagant. It breaks my heart that one pet waiting patiently in one shelter for a forever home might get lost in the buzz and the g… read more

How to catch a Smokey

1. Make sure the hallway/runway is free of obstacles. 2. Wait until Smokey is on his daily rampage. 3. Hide just inside a doorway halfway down the hall. 4. Wait for sound of approaching Smokey rampage. 5. Jump out and grab Smokey. 6. Explain to Amy that THAT is how you catch a cat. 7. Carefully wash wounds with warm water and soap. read more
