Calvin and Brock

Well after much growling and snapping and generally bitchiness, Calvin is finally getting used to Brock. Brock is super, super submissive so he's doing a good job of diffusing Calvin. My husband and I are also finally getting the hang of just how to treat the two of them together and the fighting is getting less and less prevalent. Thank you to everyone who responded to my inquiries about two pit bulls together and my question about the hostility between the two. read more

So far so good...

though I am tired of living with NO extraneous "things" in my house. We can't even leave one thing that we think he might get. My husband happned to put my sunglasses on my nightstand and Cal broke the arm off and chewed it down to the wire. Goofball. I'm just glad he wasn't injured at all. Still no crate

Cal's doing pretty well without the crate, though we have to remove just about anything even remotely tempting to him. Our house is completely bare of knick knacks, etc. during this process. Oh well, I love this dog so much that money's not even an issue. As long as it works out and he's happy...then we're happy too. read more

Day 2 out of crate

Yesterday, we had Cal out of the crate all day. He didn't do too bad at all. We have tried this before though and he got into a lot of stuff and chewed pillows and exposed the mattress padding. While we are waiting for his third crate to come in the mail, we have no choice but to leave him out in the house. We've removed all of the obvious "stuff" that can be chewed on and have closed all of the doors that can be closed. Although, funny enough, when we were upstairs showering and … read more

2nd Crate

OK so Calvin busted out of his SECOND crate on Friday and then we locked it with a padlock (destructive tendencies despite about 6-10 miles of exercise every day) and he scraped his nose up and now he has what looks like a candy coating of plasma scab on his nose. I don't know what else to do about him. I love him to bits so we'll just have to figure SOMETHING out. read more
