Calvin's new crate...Part 2

Well who knew that putting a lighter colored crate pad in there would make him actually go in? Animals slay me. Anyway, he's using it here and there. We have not actually kept him in for an extended length of time yet but I think it will work. read more

is to replace words like "owner" and "pet" with the words "human" and "companion". And indeed, to replace any words that denote or connote ownership/subservience of an animal with words that denote or connote harmonious living with an animal family member. It is not easy and sometimes I forget since those words have been part of my vocabulary for my whole life. Calvin's new crate

Well, we finally got the crate. It is like freakin' Fort Knox! The bad part...he's afraid of the hollow metal sound it makes and he scrapes his back and/or butt when he comes out of it so he's too afraid to use it. I hope to do some more positive reinforcement techniques with him but it is going to be a long haul. We also need to put some velvet "feet" on it as we have all hardwood floors and it is metal. Doggie Backpack

SO I got Calvin an Outward Hound backpack that is supposed to fit him according to the weight limit listed on the thing. It's too big though, I think. I'm not sure. Also, I need advice about what to put in the pack to weigh it down. It seems like all of the weight sinks to the bottom and he ends up hitting his knees on the pack. It's kinda sad looking. Any suggestions? read more
