I have always loved animals. Being involved with my local shelter has allowed me to help homeless pets and make some great friends. I feel that a home without pets is merely a house.

So far the Beagles haven't taken over.

I'm still enjoying Florida - having a blast and looking forward to the announcements tomorrow. I knew there were bad storms the day after I left and so I called to check on the pack. Cats/house - OK. Dogs at vet - OK. Beagletopia? voicemail. A little concerning. Hopefully Liz is busy and not fallen to some sort of beagle coup. Well, yesterday I did manage to talk with Liz. Everyone was safe and doing well. The beagle containment system was still up with no b… read more

Destructo Mutt has Returned.

Reagan, the 10 month beagle in the house, has been going through her second puppyhood. She seems to want to chew on soft items and tear them up. Yesterday there was this ominous rip of fabric and I got up to discover that she was tearing a hole in a quilt - a nice appropriate chew was close by. I redirected her. I had an errand to run that send me out to Beagletopia to deliver a bookcase and pick up some bales of straw. Once the bookcase was unloaded, Liz and I waded through the beagles to the back barn. She opened the man door and the beagles swarmed into the barn like a breech in a dam. We waded through them again to get to the straw. I grabbed a bale and Liz stopped me. She took out a dog leash and clipped it on the bale and then clipped another bale for herself. She drug the bale… read more

I love this time of day. The house is quiet - yes quiet. Everyone has been fed and in and out. The sun has set and now the pack has settled into their respective places on couch, dog beds and chair. The cats have found a little nook to curl up in. The gentle sound of snoring rises and fall in chorus as they dream sweet dreams of sun spots and breezy walks in the yard interspersed with kibble and treats. All too soon it will come time to wake them from their slumb… read more

Worn out from the weekend

This past weekend was so busy - some of the dogs were boarded, some went to Beagletopia to stay and Pablo and Bailey went to Indy for the walk. Sunday some of them came home and the rest on Monday. Sunday night was a quiet night with the blissfull quiet of snoring beagles! Monday was the same thing. Yesterday, there was a little more evening activity and then crash! Everyone was down for th evening - even Reagan the puppy. There was so much snoring I had to turn … read more
