I just heard that Minnie, the longest resident in our shelter, was adopted. She had been in the shelter since January, 2009. For months we tried to find the right home for her without any success. I am a volunteer adoptions counselor for cats at my local shelter, The Washington County Humane Society. Today,Saturday, the shelter was open to the public from 1 to 5 in the afternoon and I was there as a counselor. It's nice to know I'm popular. Last night when I went to bed Hans crawled up right beside my shoulder and laid down next to me. I've noticed he has been doing that more lately, I believe partly because he's now a senior cat and quieter and more reserved. The shelter was absolutely wild this afternoon, but it was probably worth it because we got a lot of applications for adoptions.
