Details
Bacteremia in pets refers to a blood infection characterized by bacteria in the blood. The most definitive symptoms of bacteremia in pets are usually diarrhea and fever. Cats’ and dogs’ normal body temperatures run a bit warmer than the typical human’s. Somewhere between 99 degrees F. and 103 degrees F. is normal for a cat or dog. Other symptoms of bacteremia may include a racing or rapid heartbeat, loss of appetite, reduced urination, or a cold body. If you suspect that your pet is suffering from bacteremia, do not delay in seeking veterinary medical attention. The infection can reach your pet’s heart, causing further problems.
