If your pet is suffering from the condition ascites, this means that he is experiencing a buildup of fluid in the abdominal cavity. Ascites is most often characterized by abdominal pain, which means that your pet is sore to the touch in his abdominal region, or is showing other signs of pain in the area. If your pet is suffering from ascites, he may also exhibit weakness or lethargy, a loss of appetite, or a swollen belly.
