Review Details
PetsMart grooming - a hit/miss affair for some breeds, great for others. The focus seems to have been on poodles, spaniels and terriers; the groomers do very well in turning out a very nice looking dog, as long as nothing fancier than a #10 blade on a set of shears is used.
For other breeds of dogs, it would be best to choose another establishment. Dogs with long or flowing coats tend to be line-cut particularly short. it would be inadviseable to take any Setter, long-coated hound, Border Collie, Collie or similar dog (Sheltie, Belgian Shepard) - you will find your dog returned to you with an extremely defined and usually too short a cut. This is particularly embarrasing when the dogs have their feathers eliminated and any flowing length is reduced to being just barely as long as the dog's torso.
If you have any kind of questions at all, you must explain them in detail. The groomer answering your questions and taking the order at the counter may not be the one doing the grooming. Customers need to know what some of the technical terms are if they want something special - and if the customer doesn't want something done, that must be clearly stated. Don't assume that if you wanted outlined-white lettering on the tires that the letters will be facing the street when they're mounted!
On a scale of 1-5, for more challenging dogs, collectively, Petsmart rates a 2. For the less-challenging dogs or ones that just need a quick bath and a brush, they're a 5.
