Inside "my zootoo", under "account & privacy" (link: www.zootoo.com ) there's an option there called "Photo upload preferences" (it's shown if you have the latest version of Flash installed).

If you toggle to using the "flash version" then you get a different photo upload mechanism that uses a progress bar.

Can you try it out, see if it's an improvement? (if you don't like it, just change it back again).
