Loose bunny poops

March 3, 2009 | By Laurie D. | 4 comments

My Clarkie boy

My lop eared bunny has started having loose poops, and I'm wondering if anybody has any advice. Could it be too many carrots and lettuce? He's still eating and drinking, so I know it's not stasis. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Less carrots and greens, lots more hay (timothy, meadow mix, etc. - NO alfalfa). His diet should consist of 70% hay. He needs to have food/hay/water available 24/7. Bunny's are grazers and it can cause a stomach ache or worse if they only eat once or twice a day. Also, chewing hay helps them to keep their teeth worn down (their teeth grown up to six inches a year) Hope he's feeling better. Thanks.

Make sure your bunny is eating a lot of timothy hay. Thats the main source of their diet. Timothy hay is better for them than pellets. Timothy hay will give your bunny more fiber and is easy to digest food otherwise you may have problems. I recently just had a few issues with mine. Timothy hay also files down their teeth so they dont overgrow.
