Kitty with over active Thyroid

February 16, 2009 | By Heather S.

I hope I'm not the only one, because I don't really know what to expect.

I have a tortie who is 15 (almost 16) years old. I've had her since she was a kitten. Recently she's been loosing a lot of weight and eating a LOT. So, I took her to the vet. Turns out she has an extremely active thyroid. I was told that she is burning the food off faster than she can eat it.
Now, I did have a talk with my cat and told ehr to trade me thyroids, cause I could use the weight loss, but she wouldn't go for it, haha.
Anyways, it's controlable with meds. I've got to go pick those up for her tomorrow and get her started.

She thinks she's still a kitten which is funny. She still plays, gets around fine, and thinks she owns the entire house, so that's a good sign, haha.
