toe nails

i have a pit mix. He is amazing however he keeps breaking his white toe nails. I clean and bandage them up but i don't know what to do to fix the problem.

My AmStaff was constantly ripping his nail to the point that I had to take him to the vet to have it cauterized. I just keep his nails short and routinely take him to a groomer to trim and grind his nails. He hasn't broken a nail since.
