Iris-pet names

I hadn't owned a cat since I was probably 8, her name was sugar, after Sugar we went on to dogs. Whenever I moved out a few years back i knew i wanted an animal, but i really wanted a dog. well, being my age (24) I am not home enough for a dog, so I got a cat. I wasn't really wanting a cat, but i wanted the company whenever i was home. She has the most unique personality of any cat i have ever known. She is my beautiful Tortoise shell cat Iris. She is black, and orange and white, brown, just looks like a bunch of different shades of browns. She is the most independent cat and that is what i love her so much, she loves to snuggle with me and always has to be in my face. she used to sleep on my chest at night and over my mouth until I had to make her sleep somewhere other then my bedroom. She doesn't like other cats, i recently got 2 more cats to watch for a friend for about a year. it took her a long time to warm up to them, she still doesnt care for them, but i have noticed that she is becoming more tolerant of them. anyways, i saw there wasn't much discussion on here so i thought i would talk about Iris, and I was wondering how everyone came up with the name of their cats?? i ran across Iris' name on a greek website and fell in love with it. Please share your stories of your cat names!!
