Hello all, I'm new to this group and I have a beautiful dog named Cookie but before I tell you all about her I'd like to ask some questions..

What is the exact definiton of "Mutt"? or What exactly is a mutt? and.. Is a hybrid considered a mutt too?

Hi there,
I would agree that it's anything that's not purebred and I guess technically a "hybrid" would count, although I didnt purchase my pup from a petstore,he was bred to be half & half I guess they call is a PomShih. I don't think of a mutt as a negative thing though, I mean purebreds can have a lot of different issues because of breeding issues and breed specific health problems at least the mixed breeds can maybe avoid some of that.

I think mutts are basically a mixed breed dog (not a purebred). My favorites are the "Heinz 57s". A mix of multiple breeds, so much so that it's hard to tell what the predominant breed is.
