Calling all ZooToo-ers - Voice your support for our troops on Veterans Day

November 7, 2009 | By Bill P. | 2 comments

On Veteran’s Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2009, we will have our 2nd annual “Operation Appreciation” on AM 1450 WWJB. Our show will begin at 4PM, and run until the last phone call is taken, most likely beyond 10PM. We open the phone lines and allow callers to extend their thanks to our Veterans and service members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The messages are recorded, written to CD, and included in care packages sent to the troops. With our recent loss of Spc. Justin Coleman, we are reminded that the freedom we enjoy is not free. It sometimes comes at the cost of a service member paying the ultimate sacrifice. We cannot forget his sacrifice, or the sacrifice of the 5,100 + other servicemen and women that we’ve lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. We must also never forget our veterans, and we must show the troops serving today that we appreciate them, and unconditionally support them.
So - please mark your calendars - Wednesday, 11-11-09 starting at 4PM.
Thanks!

Judi,
Absolutely. We'll be sure to get some copies to her before Dec 12th. Our goal is to have the CD produced by November 22. Regarding names - we don't have many now, but hope to get some during the show, similar to last year.
Thanks!

Hi Bill,

Got your post. My sister-in-law is very active in the Blue Star Mothers. I told her of your post, and she asked if there may be a chance we could get ahold of a few of those CD's for her care packages. Her packages don't go out until December 12th. Let me know if there is some way to include these great CDs into the Blue Star Mother's packages for December. Even though they may be intended for some, I know the rest of the soldiers would appreciate hearing them. Also, if you have any names and addresses, please forward them to me and I will give them to her to add to their list. She accepts names from any service member.

Thanks,
Judi
