Baby looking at me and waiting for me to let him out!

I have a cockatiel that I took in from a girl that couldn't take care of her a year ago. I paid twenty dollars and it was worth it, because it was sick when i brought it home, and it had lice also. So I cared for him and slowly gained his trust. I named him Baby and he talks every time we call out baby. When I let baby out he tends to like landing on heads, and then start grooming our heads. Its quite weird, but I believe its sense of caring to them for us since they can't talk as much as we do. Well Baby is great and I am so glad that I found him.

It sounds like Baby has really bonded with you. It's commen for cockatiels to want to be on top, but preening and grooming you is a great compliment. I hope you and Baby have fun.

Thats sweet, and I am so glad you took him in, especially under those conditions. That is exactly why pets, especially long lived social pets like birds, should not be given to children as a pet. They will soon tire and it will be the parents responsibility and they wont give it love. If any one is contemplating getting a pet for their child the parents should also want the pet and be willing to be the primary caregiver. I also STRONGLY stress adoption to anyone so please, everyone ADOPT! And I thank you, Diane, for adopting!
