Adopt a husky hike results from Deanna

Hello Everyone: My husband and I went to the Adopt a Husky hike in Wadsworth IL on May 16 2009. There was a great doggie bag that was presented to the owners from all the sponsors which was very nice. It contained lots of treats, organic dog/cat oat grass, dog water, a portable dog water bowl, and Bil Jack food, just to name some of the items... Well Seppala and Denali had Siberian Brain overload when we got there. There were about 200 Siberian huskies with their owners and our dogs wanted to meet everyone!!!!! Once we were there for an hour they started to settel down and get use to all there brothers and sisters of their breed around them.

The Hike begins with a bit of pulling. Denali walks in front of me and I trip and fall top my knees (Great). 2 horses apear on the trail and Seppala pulls and bolts and pulls, she wants to play with these large creatures. (Great) Seppala is a 36 lb Husky but it took every bit of my strength to keep her restrained, didn't want the horses to kick her or rear back. HUSKY HIKE OVER!!!!!!! BRAIN OVERLOAD!!!!! We walked about 2 city blocks and the hike was over, no 3 mile hike around a beautiful lake. We went back, Seppala and Denali received their medeals even though they didn't complete the hike, we went back enjoyed some food and conversation with other husky owners, and went home after spending about 4 hours there. It was and is a good cause and was fun being with other husky owners. All in All we had a fun day....
