toenail lifting from nail bed. Ouch!

Hi everyone. Has anyone experienced this with their Rotti? It's an immune mediated disorder where their toenails fall off - the body rejects them. Just wondering. Pic attached.

I hadn't heard of it either in my 15 years experience with Rotties. Most vets are very inexperienced as well. Because it's an auto-immune disorder it's likely hereditary, so i'm guessing. I can give Rimadyl if she's in too much pain, but luckilly it only takes about a day for them to fall completely off and once they are gone, she's back to normal. We are on a high dose of fatty acid supplement to encourage strong nail re-growth. This could be a one-time incident and once she sheds them all, she could go into remission. Or, it could be lifelong! We are down to 2 nails left. Wish us luck!

I have not heard of anything like this, what does the vet say can be done? Does this cause a lot of discomfort for the dog- I can not imagine anything like this. I am so sorry to hear this.
